Our client, one of Toronto's top law firms, has an immediate opening for a Litigation Law Clerk to join them on a permanent basis! If you have at least 6 years of litigation experience and want to join a top-tier firm, then we need to hear from you!

In this role you will take the reins in managing the carriage of health litigation files and assist in all facets of hearing and trial preparation. Your responsibilities here will include the following:

-Maintaining, organizing, and reporting on litigation files;
-Liaising between lawyers, clients, and opposing counsel; attending meetings with discovery deponents;
-Drafting pleadings, interlocutory proceedings, and motion materials;
-Preparing Affidavits of Documents, summaries of productions, discovery briefs, transcripts of examinations; managing undertakings and refusals; preparing discovery reports;
-Performing legal research and compiling statistics; books of authorities and other briefs;
-Preparing charts and summaries of evidence for use on discovery, pre-trial, settlement conferences, arbitration, and trial;
-Summarizing medical records for use at examinations, pre-trial, case conference and trial;
-Locating suitable experts and expert witnesses; preparing expert briefs;
-Instructing surveillance investigators and preparing surveillance reports;
-Maintaining bring-forward system to ensure team members have are prepared for meetings, discoveries, mediations, court appearances etc.;
-Preparing bills of costs/costs outlines; and
-Preparing reports for clients at regular intervals; creating/ monitoring lists of requests for information.

As our ideal candidate, you are a seasoned professional with a rock solid understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and practices at various court levels and a background in health or personal injury law. You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, a professional demeanor, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. You are committed to providing top-notch client service within a complex practice, with your proactive and upbeat attitude and your ability to keep calm under pressure. Proficiency with MS Office and PowerPoint is required; experience with PrimaFact would be an asset as well. Some flexibility to work overtime when needed may be necessary here.
