Estates Law Clerk - #13244
Our client, a reputable downtown Toronto law firm, is seeking a seasoned Estates Law Clerk to join them on a permanent basis! If you have at least 5 years of Estates experience and would like to join fabulous team, then we need to hear from you ASAP!
This role will see you applying your Estates knowledge and experience to manage legal matters relating to estates, trusts, guardianships, and properties held by attorneys. Your responsibilities here will include:
-Drafting Wills and/or reviewing Wills, determining issues that may arise and how to resolve them;
-Maintaining Will precedents;
-Preparing and maintaining accounting in court format for estates;
-Assisting in passing of accounts;
-Organizing and managing files to meet deadlines;
-Overseeing the administrative aspect of the practice to ensure efficiency;
-Locating / valuing estate assets and calculating tax;
-Preparing / drafting court documents for various Certificates of Appointment;
-Serving parties and filing materials with the Court and/or determining who can administer estates without probate;
-Communicating with estates Courts in all jurisdictions for probate applications;
-Performing searches for probates issues;
-Corresponding with clients regarding various steps, including meeting with clients to review documents;
-Managing ticker systems, lists, and follow-up;
-Conducting estate and trust account analysis and estate administration;
-Performing docketing, accounting and other administrative duties.
As our ideal candidate you are a friendly and well-organized professional law clerk with a solid background in Wills & Estates. You have a thorough understanding of legal terminology, applicable statutes, financial statements, tax returns, and legal and accounting procedures, and are always eager to learn and grow in your role. You are passionate about providing top-notch client service, putting to use your specialized knowledge, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and your ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines while not losing sight of any small details - is that you?
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and WindUp is required; any experience with Summation would be an asset!
